About Melissa
Melissa has always combined advocacy with community outreach and education, using her communication skills to further progress in social causes.
Whether as a reporter writing features on homelessness, mental illness, women in prison and fair trade, or as a lobbyist advocating for social workers, pediatricians and domestic violence programs, Melissa's background is rooted in a desire to bring people together to create a more just, sustainable society.
Now, she draws on her years of experience in social advocacy and community action to share positive stories and solutions with her viewers. Melissa is constantly learning new ways to be greener, more conscious and more active, and inspires her audience to do the same.
She draws on her passion for green living and her expertise in environmentalism and social justice to interview leading thinkers, activists and experts of the green movement, such as Van Jones, Amy Goodman and Cornel West.
Melissa is also active behind the scenes. She is the co-founder of Green Gorilla Media, where she produces and writes online media, such as Green Festival TV.
Living Green
Going green wasn't an overnight transformation. Melissa always had an affinity towards nature and animals, but didn't fully recognize how she could take personal action to make a difference for the planet.
